Squeegee durometer... the average noob isn’t going to know when he or she should use the 60 durometer or put that down and grab the 90 durometer squeegee.
So squeegee durometer does matter. For general screen printing, a 70 durometer is a good all-around blade that can be used for your everyday printing. Now let’s not forget that there are different purposes for each durometer. A 50-60 durometer blade is going to flex more which in turn means more ink will be getting laid down with this blade. Now that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it can also help with fibrillation which a lot of screen printers encounter when printing whites. On the other end of the spectrum, an 80-90 durometer is going to be very firm, and it will lay down less ink, this is a good blade to go with for CMYK prints as well as fine detail art. Now another one to think about and could be a good option is the 70/90/70, which will give you a nice soft outside with a stiff interior blade which some printers think is the best of both worlds.
